Our Mission Statement

Our purpose is to bring people to Christ by the preaching of the gospel to those who will have membership in His church so that they may grow and mature for ministry and mission to the world as we magnify the name of the Lord.

                                                                                                                                                                                                             

The Place of Praise was started for people who did not think that they mattered or had a place in a local church. Similar to many people, Pastor Orlando and his wife Claudette would attend church, but felt that they were not allowed to exercise their gifts in service. Pastor Orlando and his wife sought out and found great encouragement from God & Pastor Orlando's Seminary professors at Central Baptist Seminary to start such a church. After meeting with several interested believers who met for prayer and God's direction, in 1988 Hope Community Baptist church was formed with four families as the core group. Congregations started in a school in north Scarborough and since 2005 we have called 850 Tapscott Road units #25 & 26 our place of praise and worship.

We take great pride in our church, it is a place where the word of God is taught, where the hurting, the helpless and the hopeless can find help and encouragement for life’s struggles. We do not claim exclusive rights to God or His word but we can and we will introduce you to Him.
